Influence of Rubber Powder to Mechanical Properties and Durability of Concrete
Original language description
This research is focused on mechanical properties and durability of concrete with admixture of rubber powder from worn tires. Study evaluates influence of rubber powder to mechanical properties of fresh mixes and hardened concrete. The tested parameters were air content, slump, compressive and splitting tensile strength and resistance of concrete to water with deicing chemicals. Photos from electron microscope were captured for details of air voids. The results of the tests showed that incorporation of rubber powder to concrete mixes caused increase of air content and resistance to water with deicing chemical, but reduced workability, compressive and splitting tensile strength. Admixture of rubber powder to concrete mixes can improve required properties and concurrently help with recycling of worn tires.
