Non-destructive Testing of Historic Timber Structures
Original language description
One of the most difficult and challenging tasks in the evaluation of existing older and historic timber structures is the ability to estimate or determine reliable material properties. As the primary subject for a proposed doctoral dissertation, the current project aims to direct standard design procedures to direct, non-destructive investigation techniques (NDT) when applied to historic wood structures. The proposed project will focus on the enhancement of established inspection methods for timber elements in existing buildings by means of non-destructive testing and validation with numerical modelling.
