    The Estimation of Reinforced Concrete Slabs Deflection According to Eurocode 2

    This paper focuses on the possible estimations of reinforced concrete slabs deflection and their key factors. The state of serviceability, specifically the deflections, are becoming more relevant part of design criterion since concrete of higher strength is used more frequently. The reason is that the increase of concrete strength is not followed by adequate increase of modulus of elasticity. The calculation of final long-term deflection of the concrete element is often overlooked and underestimated because of its complexity. Therefore, structural engineers often rely on approximate and simplified methods of calculation or structural software. To know key factors and their consequences on results is therefore relevant for checking the right outcome. EN 1992-1-1 is providing possible methods to calculate the long-term deflection and all estimates are based on these methods.
