    Equipment for Concrete Irradiation Experiments

  • Original language description

This paper describes in detail the design and production of the precise small-scale low-cost experimental equipment that was used in three experiments and was exposed to different type and duration of irradiation. The first equipment is the plexiglass mould that was used for the subjection of the early-age cement paste samples to short-term gamma-ray irradiation (up to 8 hours). The second equipment is the loading frame that was used for cement paste creep measurements and was subjected to long-term gamma-ray irradiation (more than one year). The third equipment is aluminium bath for dynamic neutron radiography of capillary sorption test of cement paste samples. The bath and the samples were subjected to sort-term low neutron irradiation. The examples of the obtained results are also shown in this study. Therefore, the high-quality data of the change in Cementous materials under exposure of gamma-ray irradiation is possible to obtain using the precise well-designed small-scale low-cost experimental equipment that was described in this study. Also, with the help of neutron radiation and the designed and produced small-scale equipment the properties of Cementous materials, like capillary absorption, can be identify.
