The Surface Treatment of LC Slabs Using Waste Material
Original language description
The load-bearing slablayer of made of lightweight concrete reinforced by glass and carbon textiles was described in the first part of the paper. Because of using lightweight aggregate in the production process of concrete composite, segregation occurs, which affects material characteristics of this slab. Therefore, several methods of concreting have been proposed, including the recipe change. Furthermore, the composite is very absorbent, so it is suitable to protect it with a cover layer. The possible surface cover layer of the slab, which is partly made of secondary raw material, has been solved in the second part. The complex sandwich, composed of two layers, has not been tested yet. In this section, waste material and its suitability for application in concrete composites have been investigated. Specifically, it is fine dust (filler) created in the process of cutting and polishing natural stone (granite). The mechanical and chemical properties of the secondary raw material were determined and compared with the basic ingredients (fly ash, silica fume). These results imply the appropriate use of this waste as a micro-filler (addition) in concrete, which leads to the improvement of some properties. Other benefits of this secondary raw material include economic profit and lower environmental impact.
