Original language description
The freeze-thaw resistance of concrete is a crucial parameter determining life-span of the concrete infrastructure. Number of relatively new concrete structures is damaged by serious deterioration induced by the action of the frost. The paper is focused on the monitoring of structural changes of concrete with addition of fly ash during freezing thawing. The complex system of methods was applied for the detailed description. There are discussed influences of testing methodology and character of tested material in the paper. The performed experimental program confirmed gradual hydration of blended binder system during the freezing-thawing in terms of prismatic compressive strength and ultra-sound pulse method. Significant increase of the mechanical performance in comparison with the control mixture was observed. The performed experimental program confirmed the great potential of blended binder system; however the age and the character of testing procedures are necessary to be taken into account.
