Original language description
This paper deals with Industry 4.0 and its expected impacts on enterprise information systems. The aim is to predict and describe the implications of the principles of Industry 4.0 on enterprise information systems, and their future adaptation to this trend. The paper explains the term 'Industry 4.0' from various points of view, taking into regard its history. A description of the Pillars Industry 4.0 follows and summarizes what Industry 4.0 is built on. The main part of the paper focuses on Industry 4.0 impacts on enterprise information systems, analyzing the expected impacts of Industry 4.0 on enterprise information systems. These impacts stem from the need of collecting, storing, and processing huge amounts of data; development of artificial intelligence; security improvements; new data storage types; etc. Finally, the paper discusses expected investments to sensors, new machines, control systems, and their interconnection. In its conclusion, it deals with evaluation, implementation, and possible future research.
