    Local tilings informed synthesis of micro-mechanical fields by means of Wang tiles

  • Original language description

    This contribution addresses the so called Local Tilings extension to Wang tiles method, utilized for synthesis of micro-mechanical fields (e.g. stresses, strains or displacements) in materials with heterogeneous stochastic microstructures. By means of Wang Tiles method the original microstructure is compressed into a small set of statistical volume elements. These elements are called tiles and via the stochastic tiling algorithms infinite planar domain can be tiled preserving the stochastic and statistical properties of original microstructure. The same technique can be applied to obtain computationally intensive micro-mechanical fields of large scale domain. Each tile is extended to so-called local tiling by the adjacent layers of tiles to incorporate the influence of surroundings and the desired mechanical quantities are calculated. The final micro-mechanical field is obtained by synthesis of these small pre-solved local fields.
