The presented research is focused on behaviour of welded stainless steel I-section beam-columns. Despite some design procedures for beam-columns have been developed recently, they are aimed for hollow sections mainly. Therefore, a test programme containing twenty-one specimens made of austenitic or austenitic-ferritic steel grades was prepared. The test results will be used for a FE model (GMNIA) validation. The model will be subsequently extended into a parametric study, which should evaluate accuracy of the available design procedures for stainless steel beam-columns, including EN 1993-1-4 an propose possible modifications.
