  • Original language description

This research deals with mechanical properties of cold formed-high strength steel of a grade S960QL in an area, that was cold-formed and subsequently subjected to the welding process. Joints made by this process are widely used in structural engineering for the construction of extremely loaded members of cranes, trucks, pipelines etc. However, in civil engineering utilization of such joints is not commonly used. In EN 1993-1-8 a welding in a cold-formed area is taken into an account, but only from a distance 5t from the bend, moreover rules provided by this standard are established only for mild steels. For high strength steels, no additional rules had been made. The main goal of this research is to determine mechanical properties such as ultimate strength, ductility and toughness in cold-formed and welded area of the steel S960QL. All the above-mentioned properties are investigated with the respect to bending radius, heat input, preheat temperature, interpass and filler material matching grade.
