Original language description
The goal of the Full-scale Demonstration of Pugs and Seals (DOPAS) project was to improve the industrial feasibility of plugs and seals, the measurement of their characteristics, the control of their behaviour in repository conditions, and their performance with respect to safety objectives. The DOPAS project delivered improvements in the process used to develop the design basis, in the design bases for different plugs and seals, in reference designs, in strategies to demonstrate the compliance of reference designs to the design basis, in technology, in materials, in construction; and on performance assessment of the materials and components. Five demonstration experimental programmes were implemented as part of these development activities.
