This article aims to present current state of art in building energy management systems (BEMS). While description of BEMS often focuses on specific systems including sensor types, communication protocols or advanced human-user interface, this article attempts to briefly explain how different aspects of a system work as whole. Apart from presenting current state of BEMS, possible limitations and future development of these systems will be also mentioned.
