Achievement of Desired Indoor Conditions in Cleanrooms: Cleanliness in Relation to Thermal Comfort
Original language description
Cleanrooms present a greater challenge to provide the desired environment than other applications, but the suitable conditions for occupants should be ensured whenever is possible. Due to their specific requirements, the air velocities or temperatures are frequently not tied to the performed activity and clothing requirements. In this study, the impact of increased air change rates on the cleanliness and thermal comfort in cleanrooms was investigated by a series of experiments. In regards to the results, a necessity of the increase in the number of air changes should be discussed as it affects the thermal comfort of cleanroom users. Moreover, it can be questioned whether the changes were beneficial regarding the maintained cleanliness and excessive operational costs. When poor thermal conditions occur, the easiest option to improve thermal comfort is to provide alternatives to cleanroom clothing and thereby prevent the inappropriate user choices of clothing.
