Calculation of the development of the Portlandite content based on FT-IR spectroscopy data
Original language description
The supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) occupy, nowadays, important place in the cement composites development. In most cases, the SCMs can contribute to the improvement of durability and mechanical properties of conventional binders, especially if SCMs are pozzolans, siliceous or silicoaluminous mineral admixtures. The extent of pozzolanic reaction can be explored by monitoring the amount of calcium hydroxide over hydration time. The comparison of the reaction rates of different types of diatomite during the hydration of cement light-weight composites was analysed based on the evolution of Portlandite with hydration time and calculations from the intensity of peaks according to the Lambert-Beer´s law using Nicolet standard TQ Analyst software. The percentage of fixed lime in studied materials depending on applied modifying admixtures was then calculated.
