    In Czech Republic are a lot of bridges which were built more than 100 years ago. These bridges are often weakened by corrosion. Usually this problem occurs in places where the water may settle. Relevant example could be bearing joint of bridges with truss beams. Proposed method consists in strengthening weakened bearing joint of these steel bridges using UHPC, for which is necessary good shear connection. These old steel bridges with truss beams are mainly made of material which is not suitable to welding, so headed studs cannot be used there. Proposed solution works on similar principle to perforated shear connector. The holes for the reinforcement are used to make shear connection between weakened steel and ultra-high performance concrete (UHPC).
