Method of Extending the Operation of Steam-Generator on Nuclear Installation under Conditions of Long-Term Station-Black-Out
Original language description
The accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant has demonstrated new challenges for the safety management of a nuclear pow-er plants. The proposed measures aim is to avoid damage to the fuel cladding, which sooner or later will cause fission products to leak outside the nuclear power plant. The nuclear power plant steam generator is used at normal operation conditions to produce steam, which is used to drive the generator turbine. The article describes the long-term measures at accident associated with the loss of power supply from emergency diesel generators. It shows the way how the Feed & Bleed method will be used for removing the residual heat at the Temelin NPP in this case. This technique increases both, the robustness and the resilience; the operating time of the steam generator with coolant extends from 223 to 705, or up to 3500 hours.
