    Experimental determination of biofilms growth rate on selected plasters

  • Original language description

    This paper presents an approach for determination of biofilms growth rate on selected plasters at various hygrothermal conditions. The samples of plasters were colonized by the biofilm and exposed to a controlled environment (constant temperature and relative humidity). The relative surface covering of the samples by the biofilm was monitored continuously and after a certain period of time, the biofilms were artificially cultivated in the test flasks and the cells concentration in the solution was then counted using the Bürker counting chamber. It was revealed, that the environment with relative humidity of 97% initiate the growth up to three times faster than in case of 75%. Furthermore, lime plasters are more prone to biodegradation than lime-cement plasters. This research represents an initial step towards gathering input data for the computational prediction of the biofilms growth on selected plasters.
