Calculation of the point spread function for optical systems with a finite value of numerical aperture using scalar diffraction theory
Original language description
A scalar theory is described for the calculation of the point spread function (PSF) of optical systems with larger numerical apertures. In our work, we derive exact and simple approximate relations that allow the calculation of the PSF for a diffraction-limited optical system with a finite value of the numerical aperture. The derived relations are converted into classical expressions that are commonly described in the literature for numerical aperture values approaching to zero. The derived relation is a generalization of the classical relation for calculation of the PSF in the case of larger numerical aperture using scalar diffraction theory.
