    Interaction Diagram of Steel-Concrete-Steel Sandwich Structure

    The article is focused on the description of the modified interaction diagram, which was developed by the author for a simplified check of steel-concrete-steel sandwich, which is loaded by a combination of axial forces and bending moments. The method was developed for the needs of a feasibility study of steel-concrete guard vessel of fast reactor Allegro. In the introduction, there is a short description of steel-concrete-steel sandwich construction altogether with its design problematics, which closely relate to the author´s motivation to develop the interaction diagram. Next parts of the article are focused on the interaction diagram itself. In the theoretical part, there are mostly mentioned considerations and assumptions of the calculation, which were inspired by classical reinforced concrete principles, and which also consider the requirement for elastic analysis given by the type of the designed structure (guard vessel). Then, there is introduced the general process of calculation of every single point of the interaction diagram. The article also includes the practical part, where a short example of calculation is shown, and in which the interaction diagram for the chosen geometry of the cross-section of steel-concrete-steel sandwich is assembled. Finally, there is a discussion about the usability of the modified interaction diagram for the guard vessel of fast reactor (rotational shell) or other types of structures. There is also presented an alternative method for steel-concrete-steel analysis, which is then compared with the interaction diagram method.
