UHPC Application in Buildings and Geotechnical Structures
Original language description
Ultra-high performance concrete is a cementitious composite material with very high compressive and tensile strength, abrasion resistance, low permeability, and high durability. Currently it is used for special applications to a limited extent, especially for bridge structures. In Czech Republic UHPC is used in several bridges and footbridges. This paper deals with possibilities of ultra-high performance concrete use in buildings and geotechnical structures. In the Czech Republic, there is currently no standard document dedicated to the design of UHPC elements and structures. The most detailed document for UHPC design is the methodology of the Klokner Institute issued in 2015. For more detailed information it is necessary to choose foreign documents. A suitable standard can be two French National Annexes to Eurocode 2. Principles and differences of these documents are described in the first part of this paper. The French National Annex is then used for the design of two precast elements made of UHPC - a precast elements for hall roofing and retaining wall. The optimization of geometry and reinforcement of the cross-section of both elements is carried out. The behaviour of these elements is verified using non-linear numerical analysis. Finally, the proposed elements are compared with similar types of elements made of ordinary concrete.
