GPAMS: A G-code processor for advanced additive manufacturing simulations
Original language description
The design and implementation of a software processing tool that translates standardized additive manufacturing processing language (G-code) into FEM solver input is presented here, with additive manufacturing processing defined by a standardized G-code interpreted directly by a 3D printer. The approach is based on precise emulation of the machine G-code file, with a 3D voxel grid representing a virtual space. The tool provides the volume of material in each voxel for each time step defined by a user of the tool, and it supports structured as well as unstructured (deformed) voxel grids. Using several illustrative in silico examples, the tool is validated to show its capabilities and performance abilities.
