This article presents an application of the OSB (Oriented strand board) cladding of steel beams to increase their fire resistance. Based on the experiment, the CFD (Computational fluid dynamics) model of the horizontal furnace, which considers the influence of OSB pyrolysis on the temperature growth, was developed. The CFD model verified findings from real-scale tests. Further, the FE (Finite element) models for temperature analysis verify the CFD model and represent the possibility of modelling of OSB cladding failure in the basic concept. The mechanical analysis model compared the standard procedures for the mechanical response calculation of OSB cladding protected steel beams with the experiment.
