Critical evaluation of cement-coated knitted lost formwork construction technology
Original language description
Concrete structures can be built in any shape, but the price of formwork and the time it takes to design and built such structure are bottlenecks for further development. This paper aims to evaluate the process of creation of knitted lost formwork for complex-shaped concrete structures. Knitting can be used to create complicated shapes without any seams very quickly. This allows the structure to be prestressed with a frame in order for the knitted shape to take easily the given shape. Afterwards, a thin layer of cement paste is applied to create a rigid lost formwork which can sustain the load of concrete mixture with no significant deflection, which is deemed the greatest advantage of this construction approach.
