Original language description
The use of reclaimed asphalt (RA) into asphalt concrete mixture is a way for sustainable road pavement construction. This paper aims to evaluate the effect of the addition of jute fibres and one bio-based rejuvenator on the performance of asphalt mixture with 30 % wt. RA content. Control mixture and seven mix variants, varying the fibre’s length, treatment of their surface and the addition of the rejuvenator, were analyzed. Mechanical performance was evaluated through laboratory tests measuring air voids content, moisture susceptibility, stiffness modulus, resistance to crack propagation and complex modulus. Mixtures with jute fibres showed lower ITSR. In comparison with the control mixture, a decrease in the stiffness modulus have been shown for mixtures with the rejuvenator. The best performance in resistance to crack propaga-tion was achieved by adding jute fibres with rejuvenator to the mixture.
