Hygro - thermo - mechanical model applied for concrete slab
Original language description
Concrete slabs are used for tunnels, highways and airports due to its ability to carry high mechanical loads with long service life. Long-term designed service life, attaining usually 100 years, needs also justification by models, to quantify long-lasting phenomena and the role of multiphysical mechanisms. A thermo-hygro-mechanical model are presented to validate in-situ measured data. The results show that drying creates high stresses, that need to be mitigated by concrete design and proper cement choice.
