The steam generator is a critical equipment of a nuclear power plant and it has a criticaly level of 1. For this reason, it is important to have a proper maitenance regime in place to ensure that interruptions are minimised and failures are not tolerated between specified maitenance cycles. For economic reason, a proactive preventive maintenance programme is chosen that focuses on the maintenance of those items that contribute most to the failure of the steam generator.
