Original language description
Strengthening of concrete structures using composite plates is a popular and effective method. Using this method, either the service life of a structure can be extended, or the design of a structure can be effectively improved with minimal cost and labour requirements. This paper is focused to the description and results of a newly developed computational tool for numerical analysis of strengthened elements. The computational tool is based on numerical analysis of the cross-section using the moment-curvature method. The numerical moment-curvature model can be used to simulate the behaviour of both strengthened and non-strengthened elements. To compare the results determined by the numerical model with the experimentally measured data, the tool is extended by the calculation of deflection. The calculation of the deflection in the middle of the span of the element under analysis is determined by numerical integration of the curvature over the middle of the span of the element. The algorithm is implemented in the form of a computational tool in Python. This computational tool will be further developed and used in the next phases of the research, for example for the design of further experiments, preliminary analysis of large-scale tests, extension of the functionality of the computational tool for the analysis of elements exposed to high temperatures, etc.
