Rehabilitation of a prestressed concrete bridge using UHPC
Original language description
UHPC is a high-performance material suitable for new structures as well as for rehabilitation of existing structures. High costs of UHPC make it especially efficient for applications where a small amount of material contributes significantly to the load carrying capacity and durability of the structure, which is exactly at rehabilitation works. Strengthening of concrete structures using UHPC was examined experimentally on specimens within a research project. The results were applied in rehabilitation of a large prestressed concrete bridge in Prague. In the first two stages of construction, UHPC was used as a levelling and strengthening layer, in following two stages, also its waterproofing function will be used. The experience from large scale delivery of UHPC and its pouring on site is presented.
