Effect of cold plasma surface treatment on the tensile shear strength of lap joints
Original language description
This paper deals with the cold plasma treatment of beech wood surface and its effect on bonding with polyurethane adhesive. A one-component moisture-curing polyurethane was used for bonding. The tensile strength assessment was performed in accordance with EN 205 standard. The experiments carried out suggest that the use of cold plasma surface treatment may not be suitable for effective bonding with moisture-curing polyurethane adhesives. The strength tests showed that the plasma-treated samples met the standard requirements, but their average tensile shear strength was found to be 15% lower compared to the reference samples.
