Influence of Alloying Elements on Mechanical Properties of Low Carbon Cast Steel

  • Original language description

The Present Contribution Describes the Original Results of Experimental Programme that was Focused on Improving of Use Values of Cast Manganese Steel. Low-Carbon Manganese Steel ( 0,12wt.%C , 0,95wt.% Mn , 0,42wt.%Si ) was Investigated. This Steel Offersin Normalized State Following Mechanical Properties: Yield Strength YS= 315 MPa , Tensile Strength TS = 500 MPa , Notch Toughness KV-20= 45 J. Alloying Elements were Chosen with Respect to Their Support of Mechanisms of Strengthening in Metals. Therefore Steel was Modified by Vanadium , Titanium and Niobium Because it is Possible to Anticipate their Influence on Ferrite-Pearlite Mmicrostructure of the Basic Low-Carbon Manganese Steel. Results Show that Yield Strength, Tensile Strength and Ductility KV-20 of All Modified Steels Exceed Values of Basic Plain Low Carbon Steel only with Mn. With Increasing Content of Alloying Element Mechanical Properties Increase Too but only to Specific Limit Content and then are Constant. Detecte
