Computer simulation of ball screw drive carriage of a machine tool
Original language description
In the paper, a simulation model of ball screw driven carriages of machine tools isdescribed. The simulation model is created in the DYNAST program in a form of a mixture ofmultipoles and blocks. Brief description what DYNAST can do is contained. Electro-mechanical partof the model is composed of a, transmission toothed belt, high lead ball screwand rotating ball nut. Tensile stiffness of the toothed belt and frictional moment between the ball nutand screw are assumed as nonlinear functions in the simulation model. Ball screw is modeled usinglumped parameter modeling. Longitudinal and torsional vibrations of the screw are taken intoconsideration. AC motor control consists of loops andfeedforward circuits for speed. Carriage position is measured indirectly by means of a rotary encoderplaced on the motor spindle.
