Determination of Near-to-Wall Distance in hot Wire Anemometry by a Theodolite
Original language description
A theodolite with resolution power of one angle second was used. It was possible to fix the visual angle subtending the projection of the required small distance between the centre of the probe wire and the wall surface. A vertical straight-line drawn onthe wall surface parallelly along the traversation path facilitated aiming at the wall surface. The angle between the optic axis of the theodolite and the wall surface, 9.43o, the distance between the vertical axis of the theodolite and the straight-line drawn on the wall surface 2.38 m. The revolution of one angle second corresponded to a probe-to-wall distance of 0.012 mm. Due to possible error sources present the effective accuracy of the measurement was 0.01 mm.
