There are an infinite number of solutions possible for the control of joint movements via synergistic muscles; thus, calculations of specific muscle forces require modeling algorithms based upon 'optimization' criteria. The purpose of this paper was to examine the sensitivity of selected muscles to the calculation of force using four distinct optimization criteria.
