New Basic of Methods for Residual Stress Identification
Original language description
The paper documents experimental numerical tests of the mathematical background of the hole drilling method used for the residual stress identification. The testing specimen is a beam body (annealed to restrain the residual stress) subjected to a definedtension stress which is to be identified by the drilling methodology. Results evaluated from the numerical FEM simulation test did not correspond to the stress level assessed by the hole drilling method. This analysis discovered a fundamental mistake atthe basic function of the hole drilling method. A repair method for this problem of drilling principe is formulated.
