Diesel Engine Head Thermal and Structural Stress Analysis
Original language description
The steady state heat analysis of a diesel engine head sub-assembly under operational conditions was presented in Mecca last year. Structural analysis has been performed, the results of which are introduced in this article. Special attention is paid to contact between the valves and seats. The original conical contact surfaces on the seats are deformed both due to being pressed into the head and due to the non-uniform temperature field after warming. This effect is evaluated by computed contact pressures analysis. The presented work is a part of Josef Božek Research Center of Engine and Automotive Engineering research program, ant it utilizes C/28 series engine head documentation released by BEZ Motory, a.s. for research purposes.
