Composite Axial Flow Propulsor of Small Aircraft
Original language description
Work is focused on many aspects of design of axial flow, one stage, ducted fan driven by four stroke, four cylinder reciprocating engine Yamaha with the power output of 110 kW. Airplane with this propulsion is expected to be of considerably low drag, because of location of fan inside the hull which will make the airplane aerodynamically smoother compared with classic airplanes with tractor propeller. Such solution minimizes turbulization (disturbance) of the flow around the aircraft so significant partof the airplane wetted surface is expected to work in laminar regime. This fan is of rotor - stator configuration. The need of low weight of fan is reason for choice of carbon/epoxy composite material for blades and driving shaft connecting engine with the fan.
