Pollution-free H2/O2 solid oxide fuel cell - steam turbine cogeneration concept
Original language description
The paper presents results of conceptual thermodynamic analysis of combined heat and power generating power plant (CHP) based on thermal integration of a H2/O2 Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) into the steam turbine cycle. Numerical simulation of the CHP plant cycle suggests reduction of fuel consumption exceeding 45%, energy utilisation factor (EUF) of 93%, electric efficiency of 73% and the ratio of total net electric power to process heat power exceeding the value 1.5. Radial, high-speed steam turbine design is recommended for possible future utilisation of the plant concept in distributed CHP generation.
