Identification of Material Anisotropy of Mineralized Tissue by Nanoindentation

  • Original language description

Identifying the material properties of a representative volume element (RVE) of biological tissues has recently become of interest among scientific teams. The indentation technique is commonly used for measuring the constants of isotropic elastic materials. This paper is focused on the use of nano-indentation for material identification of transverse isotropic elastic mineralized tissues. Specifically, we employed the Swadener & Pharr method and fabric-based elasticity to evaluate the transverse isotropic stiffness matrix of mineralized turkey leg tendon (MTLT) from two-directional nano-indentation experiments. The obtained results confirmed the transverse isotropic structure and stiffness of MTLT.

Identifikace materiálové anisotropie minieralizované tkáně pomocí nanoindentace

  • Czech description

Identifikace materiálových vlastností representačního objemového elementu (RVE) u biologických tkání je častým přístupem k odvození makroskopických materiálových vlastností tkáňových struktur. Jako vhodná metoda se zdá nanoindentace. K nanoindentačnímu experimentu jsme použili mineralizované krůtí šlachy.
