Simulations of Behavior of Hydrostatic Bearings
Original language description
Hydrostatic bearings are widely used at applications where extremely smooth travel and high damping are required. Nevertheless it is often much more difficult to design hydrostatic guideway compared to the conventional rolling bearings. It is not only because the need for additional components like the pump, pipes, connectors, etc. It is mainly for the need of proper design calculations which (together with the accuracy of both sliding parts) determine the properties of the guideway. There are several approaches which use idealized assumptions (rigid and ideally parallel sliding parts, constant pump pressure, etc). The paper presents methods for more general detailed modeling of hydrostatic pockets and using the FEM for determination of resultant behavior of the whole assemblies.
