Adhesive Wear of Duplex Treated Low Alloys Steels
Original language description
The effects of duplex treatment consisting of pulse plasma nitriding and PVD hard coatings on the surface of low alloy structural steels were investigated. Four different coatings (TiN, CrN, TiAlN single layer coating and CrN-TiN multilayer coating) weredeposited on plasma nitrided 31CrMoV9 and 34CrAlNi7 steels using low-voltage arc deposition method and their properties such as adhesion, chemical composition and wear resistance were examined. All the duplex coatings showed very good adhesion property(LC = 38-55 N). The maximum value of the critical load had multilayer coating (CrN-TiN)x3. Tribological tests on the ring-on-plate tribometer (linear contact) showed the highest wear resistance of multi-layer duplex coating (CrN-TiN)x3 from the tested duplex coatings.
