Original language description
The piezoelectric patches are used as the deformation sensors in the control of smart structures. However, after a careful analysis it has been demonstrated that such sensors can give only the information applicable for vibration suppression and not forthe true shape control. The problem is that the piezoelectric patch sensors are distorted by the mutual interaction of sensors with the piezoelectric patch actuators. The strain is multidimensional and contained in the sensor signal even if global deformation is zero. The paper deals with the development of advanced piezoelectric sensor where the mutual interaction with the piezoelectric actuation is compensated and such sensor can be used even for the shape control.
