    A residual gas content can be evaluated by means of a sampling and analysis of the gas directly from the cylinder. The paper describes the accuracy estimation and the impact of the sampling device on engine behaviour and a comparison with a three pressure analysis carried out as a combination of experimental data and 1-D simulation results.
