Numerical Solution of Flow over 2D Backward Facing Step with Different Inclination Angle

  • Original language description

The paper is interested in the application of finite volume (FV) and finite element (FE) techniques for the numerical simulation of the incompressible flow in two channels with sudden expansion. The geometry is chosen as backward facing step which is either perpendicular to the bottom wall or inclined at 45 degree angle. The mathematical model is the system of Reynolds averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The turbulence effects are modelled using two-equation k-omega eddy viscosity model ( used for FE approximations) or explicit algebraic Reynolds stress model ( used for FV approximations). The achieved numerical results for both methods are compared and also the comparison to the available experimental data is shown.
