Composite Rod Optimization Calculation
Original language description
The paper presents the results of a project which is focused on the design of the composite rods which are used in the rigid control system of aircraft. The idea of the project is to give a designer a new instrument for easier designing of composite rods. Composite rod calculation with a variable cross section is a fast and exact method how to obtain a rod with minimum weight. The calculation algorithm is divided into two parts. One for a composite rod with constant circular cross section and the secondone for a composite rod with variable cross section. It is necessary to get maximum critical force, which means having critical force in every layer of the composite structure. The partial critical force is solved by means of an analytic method for theisotropic material. The result of the optimization calculation is the sum of partial critical forces for individual layers. The optimization criterion is the rod weight, optimized variables are rod diameter and thickness of the rod wall.
