Nanoindentation of dental composites
Original language description
The intent of this study was to evaluate elastic modulus of different dental filling composites. Nanoindentation was focused on mechanical properties of upper irradiated layers of the specimens and on deeper layers where the intensity of polymerization radiation decreased. In order to observe effect of time on indentation modulus different time intervals between nanoindentations were determined after specimen manufacturing. Static and dynamic analyses were performed using a Hysitron's TriboLab?. Each tested material presented significant increase in modulus after 1 week and moderate decrease in the following days. Lower intensity of radiation due to light absorption caused moderate decrease of elastic modulus. The viscoelastic properties of compositesare weak.
