Original language description
Volume changes during solidification and cooling of castings of magnesium alloys in sand molds are not well described in available resources. In order to perform the analysis of defects associated with volume changes during cooling and solidification anexperiment was made. At first numerical simulations were made and after was the experiment designed. After the experiment another simulations were made with data measured during the experiment. Results from simulations and the real experiment were compared for verification of simulation process. Both macro and micro shrinkage were observed and measured and compared with the computing models. One of the results is a table which can be considered as a Niyama criterion interpretation for Mg alloys. The other result is the description of Mg alloys behavior during volume changes and confirmation of theoretical hypothesis.
