Zygapophyseal Joint Cartilage - Its Mechanical Properties and its Role in Intervertebral Joints

  • Original language description

The intervertebral joint (IVJ) is a complex system, composed of many structural elements. The zygapophyseal joint (ZJ) plays an important role in the IVJ and in its movement. A better understanding of IVJ movement and loading is based on a proper understanding of ZJ behaviour. This paper focuses on ZJ cartilage and its mechanical properties.
