Elasto-plastic micromechanical model of a particle filled dental composite
Original language description
Main focus of this work is to simulate mechanical behavior of a dental composite of polymer resin and SiO2 filler particles. During the experimental work, different response in uni-axial compression and tension has been observed, while both resin and particles have equal properties in both directions. This study tries to find a link between the polymerization shrinkage in the resin and the macrostructural behavior. The simulation is carried out with a parameter of particle volume fraction varying from 30 to 72%. Results of the parametric FE simulation are presented and an explanation of the discrepancy is discussed. The influence of resin's material model on the overall behavior is studied. In the first series of numerical simulations, the pressure-dependent behavior is neglected, and the resin is modeled as a von Mises material and thereafter the Drucker-Prager material model and stress relaxation phenomenon are introduced.
