Analysis of Powersplit Systems with Help of Matrix Method
Original language description
The matrix gear set calculation is based on Willis formulae, which are transformed in such manner, that every equation contains the basic ratio only (ratio with fixed spider). The resulting form shows, that to every element of a planetary gear set belongs a special coefficient. The matrix method was developed for fast and simple calculations of single and nested planetary gear sets consisting of single planetary sets. This article describes the extent of usage of the Matrix method for calculation of other types of mechanical systems, including powersplit mechanisms. The power of the matrix method lies in its easy implementation in computer calculations. Accordingly, the computer program "SunGear" dedicated to calculation of powersplit systems and complete analysis of mechanical stepped planetary gearboxes was programmed. The description of SunGear is a part of this article as well.
