    The paper presents a study focused on investigating the influence of NC data quality, parameters of the CNC control system and feed drive control settings on workpiece surface quality and on machining time. A machine tool virtual model is applied, whichuses the Siemens VNCK (virtual NC system kernel) system and a feed drive model coupled with a model of the machine tool frame.
